• ·       Well, there are 2 murders (well, one we find out in book 2, but don’t know that it was a murder), someone purposely set a building on fire, which results in a fireman dying, and close calls. So okay, there’s a lot of violence in this book. But it doesn’t seem that scary since this is my second time reading it.

What I Think About this Book:

    So it went to not as gripping to very gripping. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, ‘Well, if it was totally gripping, why didn’t she finish it sooner??’ Well, because the later series is soooo toootally MORE gripping! But we’ll save that for another book report. ;) SO, anyway back to the report! Such a great book, SO totally amazing, so great, I’m on the 4^th chapter in the 4^th book!! But I won’t be doing that one since Adelaide already did it!!! So back to the book, READ IT!!! Great series, great book!!

From the Book:

Judd: The farther Judd got from the burning building, the stranger the experience seemed. Was this a dream? Had it really happened? He couldn’t imagine anything as traumatic as losing his family in the Rapture and being left behind, but neither had he ever been through something like this. The sounds of the blaze faded more with each step, and though he saw the shadows of the flames in the darkness, he had to turn and look once more to let the reality set in.

    Judd began to pray. He felt sobs rising in his chest as he thanked God that LeRoy, or whoever had done this, had not arrived while Lionel was still in the apartment. Surely he too would have been shot or burned to death.

Vikki: “It’s hard to grow up this way,” Vikki said. “I don’t know about you guys, but I’m having trouble. I have bad dreams, have trouble sleeping, find myself crying over my family, as if they’re all just dead and gone and not in heaven where I know I’ll see them someday. I know we’re all going to be called back to school one of these days, and I can’t imagine sitting through class with all I know now. If this Antichrist guy shows up soon and does sign some sort of contract with Israel, we’re gonna have only seven more years to live.”

    Judd and Lionel sat nodding.

Lionel: Lionel had tried so hard to reach his uncle for God. Judd could only hope that Lionel would eventually accept the fact that these decisions were personal. After all, that was why both he and Lionel had been left behind in the first place. No one could make the decision for them.

Ryan: The one thing Ryan couldn’t get out of his mind was that if this was true and his parents knew it, they would have believed. And for sure they would want him to believe before it was too late. But knowing it was probably true, even believing it, didn’t mean Ryan was accepting it for himself. Because what Vikki Bryne had said was right. If he bought into it, it meant he was admitting that his parents had missed out and were in hell. That was too much to take in now.

I still recommend this book for preteens/youth/teens that don’t totally understand what the Rapture is. I mean, you pick the (this is true for some people, my brothers friend won’t read the first sentence) book up and won’t stop reading ‘til you’ve read the entire thing!! So PLEASE read this series!!!!

Well on all Left Behind >The Kids< cover it seems there is a different “theme” color for it. This book is orange. Anyway, as you know, Abrielle Lindsay is also reading this series so I decided I would try it, and know we are trying to figure out how we are supposed to read this series, AT THE SAME TIME, when the library we have only has one copy of each book (except for 1 & 2 but we're done with those already)!!! So I finished book four and since it would be better if I wrote a report for book 4 because I had to skip ¼ of book 3 because of violence, Abrielle Lindsay will do one on book 3. Ok, if you’-re confused at this point so am I. So I will sum this up quickly I skipped ¼ of book 3 becauseofviolence. And here it is if you can't read that: I skipped ¼ of book 3 because of violence. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    I really like this book, like Abrielle, I have learned a lot and before I give the story away, I'll stop typing. :)

 What I think about this book:

I think this book wasn’t as great as the first one, but the best part is them becoming Christians (I just gave it away didn’t I? Sorry).

 But they all go through sadness as they miss their family and realize they have become orphans over night.

Ryan is becoming scared of things (who wouldn’t?) that he never would have been very scared of. He’s hearing things. The authors have you hanging on only to find out there was nothing.

 I thought it wasn’t as gripping as the first one but I still enjoyed it and I hope, if you read it, you will enjoy it too! ;)

From The Book:

Judd: “As for me,” he said, “I finally realized I was being stubborn and stupid to put off doing something I should have done years ago.”

  When Bruce realized what Judd was saying, he immediately stood and leaned down to embrace him. Judd felt awkward and embarrassed. His dad had not been much for hugging, especially after Judd turned twelve, but he was still glad Bruce seemed so genuinely happy for him. Bruce was on the verge of tears when he said, “Lionel and I welcome you to the family. We’re all brothers in Christ.”

Vikki: Fighting a sob in her own throat, she prayed silently. “God,” she said, “I don’t even know how to talk to you, let alone what to say. Bruce Barnes said you loved us and cared about us and didn’t want to leave us behind. I hope that’s true because I want to believe in you. I’m sorry for having been bad person, and I’m sorry that it took something like this to make me come to you. I wish I could say I would have done this eventually anyway, but I can’t.  I had enough chances, but I didn’t want to give you my life. If you can forgive me for that and still accept me, you can have whatever is left of my life. For a long time I hoped you weren’t real and that I wouldn’t have to answer to you someday, but I always knew down deep you were there. And if nothing else convinced me, this mess sure has. I know it can’t be as good to believe now when I have no choice, but if you’ll accept me, I will live for you for as long as you let me stay alive.”

Lionel:  “You better believe I already prayed the prayer,” Lionel said.”If that’s what you mean. I told God I was sorry, begged for forgiveness, and asked him to save me once and for all. You’re saying it’s not too late?”

  “That’s what I’m saying. Welcome to the family.” Bruce said.

Ryan:  “Fair enough,” Bruce said. “No one’s going to pressure you. You can be a part of this group as long as you want, regardless of what you decide to do. When you’re ready, you make this decision on your own.”

  Finally Ryan spoke. “And what if my answer is no?”

 Bruce said, “Nobody can make the decision for you. You have to live with the consequences.”

 “Or die with them,” Lionel said.

 As I said in the last Left Behind post, I would still recommend this for youth who don’t understand the rapture yet or don’t even know about. I’ve learned a lot and I’m sure you can too.

Left Behind >The Kids<: The Vanishings

Some of you have probably heard of Left Behind (the adult version). Me? I had never heard of it ‘til my mom made me start reading it. I fell in love with it. Ok, wait; let me get this straight, I read the kid version. But they are awesome. If you don’t know what Left Behind is it’s a series of books about what two pastors’ think will happen when Jesus comes back after they have studied Revelation. Right now I’m in the 15^th book, but I have started reading the series again so I can get updated. Which is a perfect time!! BTW, I am still reading through the book series, I’m not stopping.

What I think about this book:

 It’s a very interesting book. But the kids are very stubborn. Judd yells at his parents and sibs. Vikki drinks and smokes (only for a second in the bookJ). Lionel is a liar, and to me seems kinda’ proud about being a rich black kid. And then there’s Ryan. Ryan won’t listen to his best friend, Raymie.

Out of all the books that I have read this one is the least scary.

 The kids could do some work on listening. But they all seem to know what happened when they find the clothing lying around.

Jesus has come for his followers.

The ones that did disappear are more than lucky could ever mean to be before Jesus.

About the kids:

Ryan is not from a Christian family. Judd and Lionel’s families that have been Christians forever and that were very Christ like. Vikki’s parents we’re drinkers and smokers. Her mom was a Christian, that’s how she grew up, but didn’t live or do anything for Christ. Her dad said it was mumbo jumbo.

Judd’s mom, dad, little sister, and little brother had all gone to church loved it etc. Judd used to enjoy it, but then he thought he had grown out of it. He thought loving Jesus and God were for little kids and old ladies. Nobody wanted to dress like he did, listen to his kind of music, or have a little fun. So his family had always been a Christen family, well, besides him.

The Byrne’s live in a trailer park where mostly drinkers and poor people live.  Some of the people were Christians. Every Friday night, men and women would gather ‘round. They would drink, smoke and fight over their wives and girlfriends (it doesn’t have any of this happening; it just says this is what they did). But one night, a pastor came and stood on the stage for 5 minutes and told them about accepting Christ. Mr., Mrs., and Jeanni Byrne all did this that night while Vikki had disappeared to go drink and to smoke.

Lionel’s mom was a true Christian. She loved the LORD more than anything! So did Lionel’s sister, Clarice. She would stay up for a long time reading the Bible and prayin’. Their father loved the LORD as well. Lionel’s little brother and sister were Christians too. But Lionel and his Uncle Andre` shared a secret. Neither were Christians. The Washington family was a long line of Christians. 

Ryan’s parents were not Christians. His friend, Raymie Steele, has a “religious” mother. Who hasn’t accepted Christ, but makes them pray before they eat, tell them Bible stories, and makes Raymie pray before going to bed. Then Raymie and his mother start going to a new church. And, BOOM, Raymie and his mother are Christians. Raymie tries to tell Ryan, but Ryan doesn’t want to hear about it.

From The Book:

Judd: Judd was afraid too, but he wasn’t puzzled. As the pilot came over the intercom, pleading for people to remain calm, the full realization of what had happened hit Judd. He didn’t know how many other people on the plane had any idea, but he sure did. Christ had come as he promised and raptured his church..... He, and most of the passengers on that plane, had been left behind.

Vikki: And suddenly it hit her. Was it possible? Could it be? Had they been right? Had she been as stubborn and stupid as a person could be? Had she seen the dramatic changes in their lives and still not believed any of the God stuff? Had they gone to heaven and left her behind?

Lionel: Only for the briefest instant did Lionel wonder if he was dreaming. He knew better. This was real. This was the truth. All doubt and question had disappeared. His family had been raptured as his church, his pastor, and his parents had taught. And he had been left behind.

Ryan: Was it possible that the people who had believed in Jesus had been taken to heaven, just as Raymie had tried to tell him? He and his parents and Captain Steele had been left behind.

I would totally recommend this book series for youth who don’t understand about the rapture. I mean, I have learned a lot about what will happen. I even read all of Revelation to see if all of this was in the Bible. And it pretty much is! So go get it and read it! I just finally got my younger brother to read it. And he loves it!
