Pet Trouble: Bad to the Bone Boxer

I JUST started reading this series after both Amanda and Adelaide recommend this series. Apparently I was too crazy to realize that this series in an order, but, come on, it didn’t say a number on any of the sides so how could I know? Anyway if you don’t know, I am a HUGE dog lover. I want to have over 10 dogs (not to mention in the house) when I grow up. I know I’m a little weird. And this series is stuff that could happen but is super funny in really odd ways. I actually DID laugh out loud quite a few times. Just proves how weird I am. So anyway to the book review!

Series: Pet Trouble
Book 7 (don’t worry I don’t read these in order at all, after this one I read the 8th book!): Bad to the Bone Boxer
Author(s): T.T. Sutherland
Age Level: 10-14
Target Audience: This one, hmmm, probably girls, but not all of the series feature the main characters are girls some are boys.
Stars: 4½
·       Even though I enjoyed this book so much I like a lot of books more
Violence: 1/8
·       There is a fight in here where two girls are yelling at each other and insulting the other
Pages: 156

Main Characters:
Michelle
Tombo
Deandre
Midori
Satoshi
Rosie
Pippa
Buttons
Mom and Dad

About the Main Characters:
Michelle: This is the girl that tells the story. She wears her hair up in all different colors of scarves, her room is a mess, and just wants her best friend back.
Tombo: Michelle’s new boxer, who is the cutest dog ever. Even though he’s only about a year old, he’s a WHOLE lot to handle.
Deandre: He is Michelle’s older brother who is in high school (BTW, Michelle is in 5th). He knows how to figure things out.
Midori: Midori is a Japanese girl who is smart enough to have skipped all of elementary school. Everyone thinks she’s just boy crazy because she always is hanging out with her twin brother and his friends.
Satoshi: This boy is Midori’s twin brother who wants the best for his sister. He’s very nice (unlike most boys I know ;)).
Rosie: Michelle’s ‘best friend’ who says ‘like’ a lot and is like every 5th grade girl. She seems to ditch Michelle and just wants to be around Pippa.
Pippa: This girl is very shy and quiet. She has long blonde hair. And she basically agrees with anything you say.
Buttons: Rosie’s adorable little poodle puppy. Who likes to play with any dog.
Mom and Dad: Michelle and Deandre’s mom and dad who are both psychologists.

What I think About This Book:
This book (like almost all the others I do) is FILLED TO THE RIM with fun, humor, and some trouble.
The trouble IS: Tombo. He’s cute, but that doesn’t mean he’s trouble. He’s chewing EVERYTHING (almost).
Fun: Everything in this book pretty much is fun.
Humor: EVERYTHING is funny. I laughed out loud several times ( like, for real ;) )

From The Book:
Plus, the dog’s whole face radiated how much he wanted to be loved. I was good at loving things. I was sure I could make him happy.
Behind him in the cage was a strange mess. Bits of white fluff were scattered from one wall to the other next to the remains of disemboweled toys. His dog bed looked like it had been nibbled around the edges. His metal water bowl was upside down in a puddle in the middle of the floor.
Of course, I didn’t recognize the warning signs at the time. I didn’t even think about them until later. All I noticed right then were the dog’s big, hopeful brown eyes.

I would recommend this book for any dog lover. Or anyone who has chewy trouble with her/his dog. (this is a good book series for 4th-maybe 8th grade)

Enjoy,

Puppy Place: Scout

The Puppy Place: Scout
I guess you could say I'm reading books like CRAZY this week, and its true. These Books are GREAT!! If I had to pick a series to read for the rest of this year, I would pick The Puppy Place Series. This book is about a German Shepard named Scout. She ends up being a replacement for another Search-and-Rescue dog named Casey who is hurt while rescuing a little girl after an earthquake in Mexico.

Series: The Puppy Place
Book #: 7
Author: Ellen Miles
Age Level: 7+
Target Audience: I think anyone who loves puppies would like this book.
Stars: 5++
Violence: none
Pages: 75
Main Characters: Scout, Lizzie and Charles Peterson
Scout: Scout is a cute little German shepherd. She loves adventure and is a great learner.
Lizzie and Charles Peterson: I think you've heard enough about these guys so if you want to know more scroll down to see my other Puppy Place series Books. ;)
My Thoughts: The Puppy place series is awesome an I REALLY enjoy it! I hope you have it at your local library.
On The Back:
Charles and Lizzie Peterson know a lot about puppies. Thats because the Petersons are a foster family for young dogs. They have an adorable puppy of their own, Buddy, but they still love helping other puppies find homes.
Then Lizzie and Charles meet Scout, a gentle German Shepherd dog who is very good at helping people. A puppy like Scout needs a special owner. Can the Petersons fine the perfect person?

Enjoy,

Puppy Place: Chewy and Chica

The Puppy Place: Chewy and Chica
I've been reading a lot this week, not just 'cuz I don’t have a lot of homework, but also because these Puppy Place and Kitty Corner (another series like puppy place) are REALLY good. This one is  about 2 chihuahuas that are rescued from a puppy mill.

Series: The Puppy Place
Book #: 19 (none of the books have their number on the cover)
Author: Ellen Miles
Age Level: 7+
Stars: 5
violence: 0.1 There is a demonstration in the book
pages: 132
Main Characters (M.C.): Chewy, Chica, Lizzie and Charles Peterson
Quotes from the book About the M.C.:
Chewy: “And I already thought of a name for him, Chewy. Because he's always bitting and chewing.”
Chica: “As mom parked the van, Lizzie looked down at the tiny black-and-white puppy in her lap and shook her head. She still couldn't believe what had just happened back there at the shelter.”
Lizzie and Charles Peterson: “Charles and Lizzie peterson love puppies. Their family fosters these young dogs, giving them love and proper care until they can find a perfect forever home.”

On the back:
Charles and Lizzie peterson love puppies. Their family fosters these young dogs, giving them love and proper care until they can find a perfect forever home.
Charles can't stand how Lizzie acts like a know-it-all about dogs. Lizzie is older and thinks charles should listen to what she says. So when twin chihuahua puppies need help, it becomes a competition. Who will find a home first for these super special pups?

I would recommend this book for Elementry school students who hate animal cruelty, especially dogs. I wish every state had puppy mill laws now.

                                                            Hope you love it,

Puppy Place: Shadow

The Puppy Place: Shadow

Ok, so I'm not reading these books in order.  It’s not the type of series you HAVE to read in order, so I'm not. :) Shadow is about a black lab and is very smart. He ends up at a place where they train dogs to be guide dogs. (Guide dogs are dogs for blind and disabled people)
    Series: The Puppy Place
Book #: 3 (once again, not on the cover)
    Author: Ellen Miles
    Age Level: 8+
    Stars: 5
    Violence: None
    Pages: 71
Main Characters: Shadow, Lizzie and Charles Peterson
Quotes (from book) About Main Characters:
Shadow: “Shadow's a pretty special pup”, “He's a purebred Labrador retriever, with papers and everything”

Lizzie and Charles: Lizzie and Charles were both crazy about dogs.” (Lizzie) “She liked facts. Especially facts about dogs.” (Charles) “Lizzie sighed. Sometimes Charles just didn't listen”

    On the Back:
Charles and Lizzie Peterson love puppies. Their family fosters these young dogs, giving them love and proper care, until they can find the perfect forever home.
When the Petersons meet Shadow, they know he is special. He's a cute black lab, and he is extremely smart. Everyone agrees that Shadow will be the perfect puppy for someone. But where will this talented pup do the most good?

I would recommend this book for ages 8 and up because there are some things younger kids might not understand. Other than that anyone could enjoy it.

Enjoy,
Adelaide

Puppy Place: Goldie

The Puppy Place: Goldie

The Puppy Place: Goldie is about a family (the Peterson's  whose dad is a fireman, One day he brings home a puppy! The kids fall in love with it and the end up giving it to their neighbor.
          Series: The Puppy Place
Book 1: The book is not labeled 1 but it is!
          Author(s): Ellen Miles
          Age Level: 7+
          Stars: 5
          Violence: None
          Pages: 76
Main Characters: Goldie, Charles and Lizzie Peterson, Sammy (boy)
          Goldie:
Goldie is a small, little, golden retriever puppy who was given to a firefighter, Mr. Peterson. She is bright and energetic. And very smart.

Lizzie is a HUGE dog lover. She is in 4th grade and has 2 brothers, Charles and Adam, which everyone calls “the Bean”. She lives with her Mom and dad, who is a firefighter, and siblings. She also wants the best for Goldie. She does research, and wants to make sure the adopting family of Goldie is ok.
          Charles Peterson:
Charles Peterson is Lizzie's Brother. He is in 2nd grade and his teacher is Mr. Mason. Charles really wants to keep her! He doesn't want families to even come over and look at Goldie. His BFF is Sammy, who lives next door.
Sammy: Sammy is Charles BFF and in 2nd grade, too. After his breakfast at home, he starts his day by going to the Peterson's for his 2nd breakfast. He has an older golden retriever named Rufus, who is lazy except when Goldie's around
On the back of the book:
Charles and Lizzie Peterson love puppies. They want a puppy of their own more than just about anything. They know dogs are a lot of work. But their Mom still doesn't think their family is ready for a puppy.
Then Goldie arrives. She is a sweet golden retriever who needs a home. Goldie is very young. She doesn't know how to be a good puppy yet. Will Charles and Lizzie be able to help her?

I would recommend this book to Elementary Animal lovers. It is a great book and I really enjoyed it. It would be a great book for Dog Lovers especially. But it is full of humor and fun. I think anyone would like it.
